The Oley Valley Youth Field Hockey Camp is for all Oley Valley Youth League field hockey and Oley Valley Middle School players entering 1st through 8th grade in the Fall of 2024 (current grades KG-7th).  More information will be forthcoming!

We are excited to open registration for the 2024 fall field hockey season. Please read the registration information carefully before completing sign up. Registration is open to athletes entering grades 1st through 6th for 2024-2025 the School Year (current grades KG-5).  Please register the grade your daughter will be entering in August 2024.

2024 OVSD Player Registration Fee:  There is a $25 discount for registration completed before May 26, 2024.

• Grades 1-2:   $130 ($105 with Early Bird Discount Applied)
• Grades 3-6:   $155 ($130 with Early Bird Discount Applied)

For over 30 years the OVYL Field Hockey Program has flourished as a recreational league focused on the fundamentals of the game, skill development, teamwork and FUN! Our program is open for girls entering 1st through 6th grade and are divided into 3 age divisions: Lil’ Lynx (1st and 2nd grade); Junior (3rd &4th grade); & Senior (5th & 6th grade).

• Coaches: OVYL coaches are all volunteers.  Typically, the OVHS Field Hockey team assists in the first week or two of practice to introduce fundamental skills to players and coaches.  Coaches are provided skills checklist, practice plans, and links to sport specific information. 
• Team Assignment:  Players are evaluated (if possible) and placed on fair/comparable teams.  Teams usually consist of 7-9 players, although team size is dependent upon overall registration numbers. Lil’ Lynx are not evaluated; however, attempt is made to place on comparably skilled teams. Evaluations for grades 3-6 will be held on Wednesday May 29, 2024.  
• Practices: Practice will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the OVYL.  Practice starts at 6:00 pm; please be prompt.  Practice ends at 7:30 pm the first few weeks, it will end earlier as the days get shorter and school begins. 
• Games:  Games will also be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  We play mostly intra-league games during the week; occasionally, we will schedule a game(s) with a local youth program. Juniors and Seniors play 6 v 6. Lil' Lynx play 5 v 5.
• Field:  Juniors and Seniors: 30 yd x 60 yd field.  Lil’ Lynx play on a 18 yd  x 32 yd downsized field. 
• Tournaments:  Usually held on Sundays.
  • Lil’ Lynx do not participate in weekend tournaments.
  • Junior Division: Junior division plays in our annual OVYL Field Hockey Tournament, 2 outside tournaments (paid by the OVYL) and the Annual OVYL Field Hockey Tournament. Any additional tournaments entered are at the discretion of the coaches and teams with the entry fee to be split amongst the players attending.
  • Senior Division: Senior division plays in our OVYL Field Hockey Tournament, 2 outside tournaments (paid by the OVYL), and an 11v11 tournament (if available and paid by OVYL). Any additional tournaments entered are at the discretion of the coaches and teams with the entry fee to be split amongst the players attending.
• OVYL FIELD HOCKEY TOURNAMENT:  Parents are required to volunteer; this is our primary Field Hockey Fundraiser.
• Uniforms: A team shirt and socks are provided for players.  
• Equipment:   Each participant MUST provide and wear their own colored mouth guard (not clear) and shin guards.  The OVYL will lend a field hockey stick to participants– returnable at the end of the season. Please have your daughter wear appropriate athletic footwear; spikes are recommended. 
• Water:  Please provide drinking water in a non-glass container for each practice and game. 
• Code of Conduct: It is available on the OVYL webpage.  Please respect our facility, coaches, officials, players, and parents and also be a positive role model for our youth.  Per OVYL facility rules, no pets, no smoking and alcoholic beverages or grills are permitted on the grounds.
• Parent Meeting: Please plan on attending the parent meeting, typically held during the second week of practice.  

o Intra-League and Inter-league Participation: All players will have equitable/comparable playing time during intra-league and inter-league games attended by them except superseded at the coaches’ discretion by safety or disciplinary concerns per the code of conduct. Player position is not to be restricted and players will play all 3 positions (Forward, Midfield, and Back).

o Tournament Participation: All players will play in every game at a recreational field hockey tournament. Coaches will attempt to have equitable/comparable play time as game situation allows. Players will play at least half of each game (Note: half does not imply equal) except as superseded at coaches’ discretion by safety or disciplinary concerns per the OVYL code of conduct. Player position is not to be restricted in tournament play.

The Annual OVYL Field Hockey Tournament for 2024 is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, September 8, 2024.  The rain make-up date is tentatively scheduled for 9/15/24. Parents are required to volunteer for our play day.
