New USA bat rules have been adopted by several baseball organizations, including Cal Ripken, beginning in January 2018

Parents,

For those of you who may not be aware, new USA bat rules have been adopted by several baseball organizations, including Cal Ripken, beginning in January 2018.  Below I have provided a link to the Dick’s sporting goods website where they have a full explanation of the new rules and how it will affect the bats to be utilized during our 2018 spring season.

Please note that this bat change does not affect players who will be playing smashball in 2018, however all other age levels from 8U (Rookie) through 12U (majors) will be impacted by this change.  We are in discussions now with the various local teams that we will be playing in 2018 and in the Cal Ripken affiliated programs and also tournament ball.  The overall sentiment of the rules change is that they will most likely be implemented across the board at all age levels noted above as well as tournaments with possibly some minor exceptions.

I wanted to forward this information to you as soon as possible, especially before the holiday season.  If you have any questions, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

Thank you,

Mike Reinert
