Dear Parents,

The season is well underway and the kids seem to be
having a great time!  Opening Day was a huge success
and I thank everyone for their participation and support
of the program.  It is an awesome thing to see our
“tballers” develop and learn the basics of the game.
They are catching on fast!  This year we will be playing
some away games at Antietam and we will be hosting the
“Rising Sun tballers” at our facility.  It is really a great thing
to have an opportunity to play some outside teams at this
level and the kids seem to really enjoy it. Keep enjoying the
games – our future “All Stars” of Oley are working hard and
having fun!!  I will also keep you all posted on an estimated
time for delivery of the pictures from VSN.

Our Instructional League this year is off to a strong start.
Watching these kids and how they’ve developed is
extraordinary.   We have 3 really strong teams this year.
Our “traveling schedule” this year is limited to Antietam only.
We will also be hosting the Rising Sun league at our facility.
The season concludes with a tournament the weekend of
June 14 & 15th at the Youth League.  Right now, we are hoping
to have at least 7 other teams playing in the tournament.
Oley will have only 1 team participating.  That one team will
be a combination of the kids currently playing in our league.
Coaches will make the selections and notify the parents.
This tournament has proven to be a lot of fun in the past.
Two final thoughts – I’d like to thank ALL of our coaches for
their continued dedication to our kids.  We have a great
roster of talent in all of them and I appreciate their taking
the time to teach our kids the great game of baseball!   Also,
a special thank you to all of our parents.  It is because of your dedication to the league,
n today’s crazy, busy, world – that makes it fun for all our kids to enjoy the games together.  Thank you – each and every one!!

Please remember to keep me posted with any questions or concerns any of you may have. This is YOUR Youth League, and anything we can do to improve upon our programs is always welcomed.

2008 Teeball Program:

            www.readingkubota.com

The Oley Valley Youth League T-ball program is generally divided into two groups; Regular T-ball, designed for kids in Kindergarten and First Grade and Instructional Baseball, designed for kids in second and third grade.

In the regular T-ball, program, children bat by hitting the ball off the tee.  Basic fielding and learning how to play each position are taught.  The main emphasis of the program is teaching the children the very basics of baseball, good sportsmanship and just having fun with their friends and classmates.

The Instructional Baseball program is a league in which the kids begin learning more “advanced” basic skills.  Learning how to play as a team and beginning to recognize where a play needs to be made, are more fully emphasized.  The big difference over T-ball is that the kids start pitching from the mound.  Kids who want too, start to catch at home plate.  This league has developed into providing the kids more active play and instilling a more advanced knowledge of the game.  Emphasis is still on having a good time with their friends.  Some games in this league will be “travel games” with other area youth organizations and a tournament at the Youth League involving the other organizations has always been a lot of fun for both the parents and the kids.  This league provides a much greater degree of participation, allowing the kids a chance to develop skills at a much earlier age.  Parents also tend to find this league a lot more fun to watch and enjoy!

Both leagues participate in Ice Cream night, Pizza night and a night out at the Reading Phillies.  More activities and fun are planned for the 2008 season.

Come on out and enjoy the spring season at the Oley Valley Youth League, the only organization to offer superior sporting facilities and programs designed with your child’s best interest and learning in mind. Be part of the fun!!!

The Oley Valley Youth League, where tomorrow’s High School athletes begin their training today!!!
