Standards of conduct
The Oley Youth Basketball League is made up of volunteer
coaches, volunteer assistant coaches, volunteer officials
and volunteer gym coordinators. At all times, the
OVYL expects all people attending any OVYL activity to
follow these basic standards of conduct in order to support
the following goals:

To teach the players teamwork and sportsmanship.

To ensure the players have fun.

To teach the fundamentals of the game of basketball.
Acceptable standards of spectator behavior include:
· Remain seated in
the spectator area during the games.
· Respect decisions
made by officials.
· Be a role model
by positively supporting teams and by not shouting
instructions or criticism to the players, coaches or
officials. Do not coach from the stands.
· Make no
derogatory comments or gestures to players, coaches, parents
of the opposing team, officials or league administrators.

Remember that the players are children and are playing for
their enjoyment..
Un-sportsmanlike Like Conduct
1.
The league supports any coach who wishes to sit a player out
for disciplinary or academic reasons. The league must be
notified in advance of your game day and the opposing
coach and referee must be informed prior to game time.
2. Un-sportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated by
any participant or spectator by the OVYL, its officials and
scorekeepers. This includes such items as pushing, shoving,
fighting, the use of profanity in any manner, verbal abuse
of other players, coaches, or officials and any dangerous or
illegal un-sportsmanlike play.
3. The referee, league official or league coordinator
has the right to clear the gym or building of anyone that
interferes with the game in any manner and adjust
sportsmanship points accordingly.
4. Any player, coach, or spectator receiving two
technical fouls will be ejected from the game and
automatically suspended for its team's next two league games
or tournament games pending a league investigation. League
decisions will be final.
5. No team will be permitted to compete without a 18
year old or older coach.
