Tryouts for the Legion and Jr. Legion baseball teams will be held on the following dates:

April 20 - Sr. Legion - 1:00pm to 3:30pm, Jr. Legion - 4:00pm to 6:30pm

April 27 - Sr. Legion - 1:00pm to 3:30pm, Jr. Legion - 4:00pm to 6:30pm

BASEBALL UPDATE

It’s Spring.  That time of the year when the fancy of the young (and old) turns to…..BASEBALL!

All of the Oley Valley Youth League teams from T-ball to the majors began their spring practices March 31 with an eye on their first competitive games in late April.  We have had a great turn out at all levels and are looking forward to a fun year.  The youth league baseball program is growing and growing and our facilities are the best around.

Our senior level teams are also looking forward to beginning the year with tryouts for the Jr. Legion and Senior Legion squads on April 20 and April 27.  Those tryouts are at the youth league legion field, and are from 1:00 to 3:30 for the legion age players, and from 4 to 6:30 for the Jr. Legion age players.  Our Western Berks team will also begin practices when the middle school baseball team is finished with their season about mid-May.  There is still time to be part of these teams and there are no late registration fees.  Look on the OVYL web site for the registration form.  And don’t forget to check out the new OVYL baseball website at www.ovylbaseball.com.  You will really enjoy the information and exciting format that out Senior Legion coach has developed for us.

A special thanks from baseball commissioner Gary Koenig and the VP of Operations – Ed Korn goes out to all the volunteers who helped get the fields in playing shape on March 22.  Your help was greatly appreciated.  Keep April 19 open for final preparations in getting the legion field in playing shape.  And another special thanks to a friend of ours from Boyertown, Bruce Dierolf, and helper Tim Shores of Oley for some special work they are doing in rebuilding the legion field and the pitching mounds to terrific condition not seen in years.

OVYL will also sponsor the U10 Cal Ripken district baseball tournament June 27, 28, 29.

Youth Baseball Clinic June 23 to 27, 9 AM to Noon for T-ball to 8^th grade.
